Doug has had a private practice in Annapolis, Maryland for the past 30 years where he practices couple therapy, family therapy and individual psychotherapy. In addition to his private practice, he has worked in public mental health agencies and has taught and trained other professionals in family and couple therapy. He received his Masters degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 1976. He is licensed by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners as a Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical. In addition, he had 3 years of intensive advanced clinical training in family therapy, couple therapy and individual therapy at the Family Therapy Institute of Washington. He is recognized by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy as a Clinical Member and an Approved Supervisor. (See AAMFT web site www.aamft.org)

Doug is founder and former director of the Washington Baltimore Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). He has practiced EFT for 15 years and is recognized by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) as an EFT Trainer and EFT Supervisor (see www.eft.ca). He is a coauthor of Becoming an Emotionally Focused Therapist: The Workbook with Sue Johnson et al.
